View Our Child & Youth Aquatics Programs
The YMCA of Norwalk has classes for children of all ages and abilities. Our staff is here to help make learning to swim fun and enjoyable for the whole family. We have classes for parents and their children to experience together starting at 6 months old to 4 years old. If your child has that independent spirit and wants to swim with children their own age and abilities, we have swim lessons starting at the age of 3 years old all they way up to adults. It’s never too late to learn how to swim here at the Y! Our program is designed to build on what the students learn while teaching important water safety rules along the way.
If your child is more advanced at swimming, why not jump into the more advanced classes we offer. Fish, Flying Fish, and Shark classes will meet in the Main pool for their lessons to help them build up their endurance as they learn other strokes like the Breast Stroke and Butter Fly. Students will also learn how to make up their own swim work outs to do on their own.
We are also looking for those who may be interested in joining a swim team at some point. Those who are not quite ready to take that dive, but want a little more out of their swim lessons. We are currently taking names of those youth who would like to be on a pre-swim team that would meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:45p-4:30pm. Youth must be able to swim at least 100 yards consecutively Front Crawl, Back Stroke, Breast Stroke, and be familiar with the Butter Fly. Please contact the Director of Aquatics if you are interested in this program.
