The YMCA of Norwalk runs an educational and recreational half-day and full-day program for children of pre-school age. Creative and fun program including art, language and manipulative activities needed as a foundation for later learning. Children are exposed to different school readiness centers in the room where they explore through play and learn by doing; that will have your child ready by five and fine by nine. Added activities include gymnastics, music together, and a swim lesson each week. YMCA of Norwalk School Age Child Care (SACC) programs are designed to meet the needs of school-age children and the needs of our parents. Parents can be assured that their children are being well cared for in an enriching environment where the top priorities are safety, supervision and fun! YMCA School Age Programs are structured to offer activities that benefit children's social, physical and educational development. Camp Sunrise is an off-site day camp for grades K-5. Camp Sunrise is held daily Monday through Friday with two choices of camp day; a regular day of 8:30-3:30 and an extended day of 7:30-6:00 for an additional cost. The eight week program features two days of swimming at the YMCA, Zumba, Yoga, Arts and Crafts, trips to Calf Pasture Beach, and a “Learning Lab” academic skills session four days a week in addition to outdoor and indoor athletic and social play. Camp Sunrise also features a CIT (Counselor In Training) program for sixth and seventh graders. This gives young adults the chance to have a camp experience while learning responsibility and leadership skills from the senior counselors.
