Contribute to the YMCA

There are many benefits of working at the YMCA of Norwalk.

We provide a supportive work environment where employees are encouraged to grow and contribute. To this end, employees will experience:
  1. Professional growth and development through YMCA-sponsored trainings
  2. Membership privileges at the YMCA
  3. Flexible work schedules and a family-friendly environment
  4. Staff discounts on programs and services
  5. Competitive benefits package for qualifying staff

OFFERING OF BENEFITS
As an employee of YMCA of Norwalk, you receive regular pay for the services you provide. The other part of your total compensation is the value of the benefits that YMCA of Norwalk makes available to you and your family. The value of these benefits is your "hidden paycheck." All benefits are governed by the actual benefit plans, which have precedence over the information reported in this notice. YMCA of Norwalk reserves the right to change, suspend, or cancel its benefit policies or practices with or without notice.

Compensation
Employees are paid commensurate with their job experience. The YMCA of Norwalk supplies job descriptions, performance evaluations and other tools designed to compliment the employee's talents to identify pay and reward for performance.

Medical Benefits
The YMCA of Norwalk offers a variety of Health Plan options for its full time employees. Employees who work 40 hours are entitled to participate with medical, dental and Life insurance. Employees participate in a cost share to help offset the costs of the medical and dental plan options. Currently the YMCA has partnered with CBIA with our health benefits and HR is continually striving to offer the best health benefits for employees. Life insurance is 100% paid for by the YMCA.

Time Off Benefits
The YMCA of Norwalk offers full time employees who work 40 hours per week vacation, personal, holiday and sick time off as part of our generous benefits package. Vacation time is meant for rest and relaxation away from the working environment. Personal days are reflected to honor those holidays that the YMCA does not "recognize" to provide the employee with time off either during specific holidays or as time they choose. We have a generous paid holiday schedule and our sick time continues to increase until it caps at a maximum of thirty days. Sick time is to be used when the employee cannot make it in to work due to health reasons, such as being ill, injured, or needing to be at home to take care of a sick child or family member.

In addition, the YMCA of Norwalk has provisions for bereavement leave, jury duty leave, military leave, and family and medical leave.

Disability
If you become disabled because of sickness or accident and are unable to work on a short-term basis, you are eligible to receive 60% of your regular weekly earnings. The YMCA of Norwalk pays a large percentage of the short-term disability premium for our employees.

If you are unable to work for long periods of time because of sickness or accident, you are eligible to receive 60% of your regular weekly earnings. The YMCA of Norwalk pays 100% of the long-term disability premium.

Social Security
The YMCA of Norwalk contributes to and also forwards employee withholding taxes under FICA (Federal Insurance Contributions Act which includes Social Security and Medicare benefits) on your behalf. These benefits provide each working American with retirement income and also provide income security to employees in the event of disability, income security to surviving members of deceased workers' families, and hospital insurance for the aged and the disabled.

You may request a Personal Earnings and Benefit Statement (PEBES) from the Social Security Administration to verify your earnings records and receive an estimate of your future Social Security benefits.

Retirement
The YMCA of Norwalk uses the YMCA retirement Fund in which you are eligible to participate. Eligibility and vesting requirements must be met to participate and retirement is currently at a participation level of 12% of your eligible bi-weekly earnings. The YMCA contributes 7% and employees who are eligible pay 5% towards their retirement contribution. Employees can find out more about the YMCA Retirement Fund by accessing the website online at www.yretirement.org.

TOTAL COMPENSATION
As your length of employment increases with the YMCA of Norwalk, additional years of service may further enhance the value of benefits, particularly your retirement benefits and paid time off.

The YMCA of Norwalk is an equal opportunity employer.
