A wonderful introduction to a swim class
for infants and parents. This class is
designed to adapt children to the water
through songs and games. Parents are
introduced to the basics of our Swim
lesson program and water safety.
INIA /Perch (13-24 months)
While swimming with parents, toddlers
are encouraged to explore the water and
learn basic swimming skills and water
safety through water play, songs, and
use of flotation aids.
Parent & Pre-School
A great first swim class for young
swimmers. While swimming with their
parents, children learn basic swimming
skills and water safety while building
independence and confidence in the
water.
Pike
A swim class with an instructor
for beginner swimmers. This class
introduces basic swim skills, pool safety,
use of flotation aids and independence
in the water.
Eel
Young swimmers who have learned to kick,
paddle and float are challenged to swim
the length of the pool and demonstrate
readiness while emphasizing water
safety.
Ray
An intermediate swim class that
encourages young swimmers to perform
front crawl and backstroke while also
learning diving and safety skills.
Starfish
A more advanced swim class for
swimmers who are ready to improve
front crawl and backstroke techniques
while learning new strokes and survival
skills.
Polliwog
A swim class for swimmers who are six
years or older and have little swimming
experience. Children become comfortable
in the water while learning basic swim
skills, water safety and use of flotation
aids.
Guppy
Swimmers who are ready to learn whole
strokes are introduced to front crawl
with rotary breathing, back stroke, diving
and water safety.
Minnow
Swimmers are encouraged to perform
correct stroke techniques for the front
crawl and backstroke while building
endurance and learning important safety
skills.
Fish
This class is designed for swimmers
perfecting their front crawl and
backstroke. They are also introduced to
dolphin kick and breaststroke kick.
Flying Fish
Advanced swimmers learn the four
competitive strokes while improving
endurance.
Shark
For advanced swimmers, this class
focuses on competitive strokes and
perfecting technique, while learning
starts, turns and relays as well as
lifesaving skills. (You must have
instructor/Aquatic Director’s approval to
sign up for this class.)
Teen Beginner (13-17 yrs.)
This class is designed for teens who
have not had swimming lessons before
or who are not comfortable in the water.
Basic swimming skills and personal water
safety skills are taught.
Teen Swimmer (13-17 yrs)
This level is designed for teens who
would like to improve their technique and
build endurance but are not ready for a
structured workout.
Adult Beginner (18 + yrs.)
This class is for adults who do not feel
at ease in the water or who have never
participated in swim lessons. Nonswimmers
are taught basic swimming
and personal water safety skills.
Adult Swimmer (18 + yrs.)
This level is designed for adults who would like to improve their technique and build endurance but are not ready for a structured workout.

**Previous program members-a prerequisite for each level requires successful completion for the previous level as determined
by the Aquatic Instructor and/ or Aquatic Director.
There will be no make-up classes for closure of pool due to thunder/lightning storms or other acts of God.
Refunds or credits will only be allowed for medical reasons that have been documented with a Dr.’s note and the
Aquatic Director’s approval. Lifeguards and Swim instructors can not issue credits or refunds.
Students may not change classes from week to week during a session to better fit their schedule. All students must attend
the classes that they are signed up for. This allows us to stay within ratio and keep consistency with the swim instructors and students.
ALL participants please sign up for the free classes. Classes that have no enrollment will be canceled. This also gives us a list to call incase we have to cancel
a class for any reason. Thank you
Non-members may choose to purchase swim vouchers at the Member Service Desk. 12 visits- $35.00 or pay $3.00 per visit.
***The YMCA Swim Lesson Program is not designed for your child to pass a new level each session. As your child progresses,
advanced strokes and skills are taught, therefore taking more time to master.***
