Program Philosophy

The YMCA of Norwalk is a strong believer in outdoor play and an active lifestyle for children and their families.
  • We believe in outdoor activities that will keep your child moving
  • We believe in allowing the children to express themselves artistically
  • We are a huge supporter of the YMCA of the USA Activate America Program
  • This is forming a healthy lifestyle for kids and families not just at the Y but also at home
  • Your child should be active all day long. If it is not a physical activity then it should be something that will allow them to express themselves.
Program Goal

The YMCA is to work on each camperšs Spirit, Mind & Body. We do this with the aid of Character Development called CHoRR Values
  • Caring - symbolized by the color red for the heart, we seek to teach campers love and tolerance for fellow human beings.
  • Honesty - is blue for "true blue", the value of honor and truthfulness in our lives.
  • Respect - is gold for the "golden rule", treating others as we ourselves wish to be treated.
  • Responsibility - symbolized by the color green for nature and our responsibility for the world around us.
